Halloween Activities in McKinney

There are plenty of opportunities to celebrate Halloween here in McKinney, Texas! Whether you’re looking for some outdoor family fun or a costume contest, there is sure to be something for everyone. Here are some of the events happening here this season!

Fall Festivals

McKinney Fall Festival and Monster Dash

When: Saturday, October 27 9AM – 3PM

Where: 721 Anderson Street McKinney, TX 75069 (TUPPS Brewery)

Cost: $25 Early Bird, $30 Regular

This festival is free & family friendly! There will be great food, two bands on the Whataburger stage, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, kids activities, costume contests, over 60 boutiques and shops and of course plenty of delicious cold Tupps beer! All Monster Dash 5k participants will receive an event t-shirt, swag bag and finishers medal! The course is chip timed, and there will be awards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female winners! Make sure you wear your costume!! They are highly encouraged! Our friends at Servpro McKinney will have prizes for the most creative and spooky costumes! Don’t miss this awesome, fun, fall celebration in McKinney, Texas! A portion of the event proceeds will benefit The Warriors Keep!

Mesquite Pumpkinfest – Valley Creek Park

When: Saturday, October 20 10AM – 6PM

Where: 1 Nature Place, McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: Free

This year’s events will include: Live Jousting, William Tell Archery Show, Sky Kings Falconry Show, Loch Ness Monster Kayaking, Maypole Ghost and Goblin Storytelling, The Wolf Den Maze along with Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest, Best Dog Costume Contest, Best Youth Costume Contest, Art’s and Craft’s, Carnival Games, Bounce Houses, Food Vendors, Trick or Treating in Peddler’s Alley, Community stage performances and more.

Storybook’s Pumpkin Patch

When: Saturday till Wednesday, October 29 – 31

Where: 3701 South Custer Road Mckinney, Texas 75070

Time: Sun to Fri: 10AM to Sundown; Sat: 9AM to Sundown

Cost: $15 per Child, $5 Adult

Parents and their children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite storybook character at Storybook’s Pumpkin Patch! The event will include a hay maze, pony rides, petting zoos, bounce houses, and a wagon ride through the 1800s Western Town.

Fall Festival – Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church

When: Saturday, October 27

Where: 1015 State Hwy 121 Allen, TX 75013

Time: 4-7 PM

Cost: Free Admission

The Fall Festival will be full of fun, games, bounce houses, food trucks, game trucks and many other activities. Inflatables, Preschool Games, Game Trucks, Food Trucks (with food available for purchase), costumes, candy, and lots of fun!

Fall Festival – Crosspoint Church

When: Saturday, October 27

Where: 2101 S Stonebridge Dr McKinney, TX 75072

Time: 3-5 PM

Cost: Free

Crosspoint Church invites you to come share in their fall festival. Come dressed in a family friendly costume! The festival is carnival themed with jump houses, petting zoo, carnival games, dunk tank, inflatables, balloon artists, candy, and more!

Fall Festival – Fort Worth Botanical Garden

When: Saturday, October 13

Where: 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd. Fort Worth, TX 76107

Time: 1-4 PM

Cost: Free

The Glow Fall Festival at Fort Worth Botanical Garden will feature pumpkin-related activities, games, a photo booth, and much more! Come spend some time appreciating nature with your family. No registration is required.

Fall Festival – Stonebridge UMC

When: Saturday, October 13 4-7 PM

Where: 1800 S. Stonebridge Dr. McKinney, TX 75070

Cost: Free

This festival will feature trunk or treating, a kids costume contest, photo opportunities, a petting zoo, face painting, pumpkins for sale, and food trucks. All donations and pumpkin sales benefit our dinner partnership with The Samaritan Inn.

Scare on the Square

When: Wednesday, October 31 4-7 PM

Where: Historic Downtown McKinney, 111 N. Tennessee St.

Cost: Free

This year’s Scare on the Square will feature a costume contest, pumpkin races, and Rockin with Rhett. The shops in downtown McKinney and McKinney Main Street invite you to come out on Halloween and enjoy the sights of hundreds of ghosts and goblins young and old in Historic Downtown McKinney. This annual event provides interactive activities to celebrate a safe, secure, family fun Halloween event.  

For the Younger Crowd

Trick or Treat Trail

When: Thursday, October 25 4:30 – 7PM

Where: 2001 S. Central Expwy. McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: Free

Check out the Trick or Treat Trail at the McKinney Community Center for a spooky good time. Trick or treaters of all ages are welcome to come and join in this free community wide event. Local businesses and organizations will line the trail to hand out candy and other treats. Event activities will include a costume contest, face painting, games and music. Food truck vendors will be onsite. Pre-registration is required.

PreK & Kinder Pumpkin Patch (Reservation Only)

When: Wed & Fri, October 3 – 31 10-11:30AM

Where:  315 S Chestnut St, McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: $8 per child (Chaperones are free)

This year we are offering a Pumpkin Patch just for Pre-K and Kindergartners! The kids will get to enjoy story-time in the schoolhouse, dress a scarecrow, pumpkin science fun, and a pumpkin toss. Each student will take home their very own pumpkin!


Haunted Tour at Chestnut Square

When: Saturday, October 20 8-10 PM

Where: 1 Nature Place McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: $20 per person (ages 12 and older)

The Ghostly Hauntings at Chestnut Square tour is a 2 hour all-access flashlight led tour of 4 to 5 of the historic homes at Chestnut Square. Hear the history of the homes, the people who lived in them, how they lived and all the ghostly hauntings that happen in each house. The tour starts at the school house which is on the north east side of the property. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Chestnut Square Overnight Paranormal Investigation

When: Saturday & Sunday, October 27 & 28 9AM – 6AM

Where: 302 Anthony Street McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: $75 for Early Bird, $100 for General Admission

Celebrate Halloween with an overnight investigation of Chestnut Square Historical Village! You will gain an all access pass to the haunted locations and houses on the Historical Village property, as well as conduct your own paranormal investigations in the hopes of capturing evidence. Just a few blocks south of historic downtown McKinney, Texas, is Chestnut Square Historical Village. A collection of 10 buildings ranging from 1854 to the 1940’s. The site is truly a hot bed of paranormal activity. On a regular basis, visitors experience disembodied voices, shadow figures, the sensation of being touched, and has a history of providing clear electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) recordings for visitors. Your ticket includes a chance to learn the basics of the paranormal investigation process, the use of Haunted Texas Tours equipment, including digital recorders, EMF meters, K2 meters, Spirit Boxes and more, a night of ghost hunting with the team, and a digital download of any evidence you captured while using Haunted Texas equipment. This event is not recommended for children under 12. Children 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk

When: Friday & Saturday, October 26 – 27

Time: 7PM & 9:30PM Friday; 6 – 10PM Saturday

Take a self-guided tour of McKinney’s most haunted locations! Starting at Chestnut Square! Go at your own pace, and see what you can find!

Pumpkin Fun

Pumpkin Dive

When: Saturday, October 27 1 – 3PM

Where: 2121 Cross Timbers Road Flower Mound, TX 75028  

Cost: $5 for CAC Members, $6 for CAC Non-members

Dive for pumpkins in the CAC indoor pool at the annual Pumpkin Dive! After finding the perfect pumpkin, kids will be able to decorate it in the party room. All supplies will be provided. Be sure to wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Space is limited, so register early! An adult must be in the water with all 3 – 5 year olds and non-swimmers.

Pumpkin Splash

When: Saturday, October 19

Where: 405 Rufe Snow Dr Keller, TX 76248

Time: 6 – 8PM

Cost: $10 in advance & 14 at the door

This Halloween season, our pumpkin patch will make a huge splash! Yes, pumpkins float! Take a swim in our indoor pool, where you can pick out your favorite pumpkin in our floating pumpkin patch.

Pumpkin Dunk

When: Saturday, October 27 9AM – 12PM

Where: 3003 Alma Rd. McKinney, TX 75070

Cost: $10 per Child

Come pick your pumpkin! You will have 30 minutes (9:00am-9:30am) to swim and pick out your favorite pumpkin. Once your time is in the water up in the water you will have until noon to paint your jack-o-lantern scary or sweet and take it and your very own goodie bag home. One pumpkin allowed per child.

Fun for Everyone

Adapted Recreation Social Dance Nights – Halloween Boo Bash

When: Friday, October 12 6 PM – 8 PM

Where: 2001 S. Central Expwy. McKinney, TX 75069

Cost: $5 per person

This social dance event is designed for special needs individuals 18 years old and up along with their families and caregivers. Everyone deserves a chance to celebrate Halloween!

Neighborhood Night at the Movies – Monster House

When: Friday, October 26 7:30-10PM

Where: 2996 Virginia Pkwy. McKinney, TX 75071

Cost: Free

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a family-friendly movie under the stars at Bonnie Wenk Park!! The Movie will begin at dusk.

Fang-tacular Family Campout

When: Saturday & Sunday, October 20 – 21 4 PM – 9 AM

Where: 2121 Cross Timbers Road Flower Mound, TX 75028  

Cost: $60 for CAC Members, $66 for CAC Non-members

Experience Flower Mound camping by pitching a tent at Twin Coves Park! Pumpkin patch activities and various family games will be provided, along with a catered dinner and breakfast. A Halloween-themed movie will be shown on the big screen! Bring a tent, tent decorations, sleeping bags, bug spray, and flashlights. The most creative Halloween-themed tent will win the tent decorating contest and a prize! Cabins and RV slots are available at an additional charge and must be booked separately through Twin Coves Park. Cabin and RV space is limited and must be reserved by Friday, October 5.
