Tooth-Friendly New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year! The beginning of 2019 is the perfect opportunity to set some new goals for yourself and for your health. Why not include your teeth in those self-improvement plans? Whether you currently have braces or are just trying to take care of your teeth, there are plenty of ways to include your oral health in your New Year’s Resolutions! Here are a few of our favorite ideas.

Clean Up Your Act!

The new year is a great time to clean up. If you found yourself frustrated by your messy bedroom or cluttered backpack last year, make a resolution that involves keeping your things neat and tidy! Personal and oral hygiene are areas of your life that fit very well into this goal category. Try resolving to floss every day, if you don’t already! Alternatively, try resolving to take a travel toothbrush and toothpaste to school or work every day to brush after lunch!

Eat Your Veggies!

We could all benefit from eating a little better. Your body will appreciate some more healthy fruits and veggies in your diet, and so will your teeth! Teeth need nutrients like calcium, protein, and lots of vitamins to stay strong and healthy. Resolve to add veggies to your meals, or snack on fruits between meals instead of processed sweet treats!

Get Active!

Do you want to get into better shape in 2019? Find a physical activity that is fun for you! You can join a sports league, sign up for a gym, or make plans to jog with a friend a few times a week. If you are going to be playing a contact sport, be sure to wear a mouthguard to protect your teeth (and braces, if you have them!). Have fun!
